2026 February Member Education Series: The Title Process and Essential FinCEN Training
Tuesday, February 17, 2026 (1:00 PM - 3:00 PM) (CST)
Description
This in-depth course is designed to help real estate professionals strengthen their understanding of the title and settlement process while preparing for important FinCEN reporting requirements that impact residential real estate transactions. The first portion of the class will walk agents through the role of title companies, including how title searches are conducted, how title commitments are issued, and how common title issues are identified and resolved. Attendees will also learn the basics of reading title reports, the steps from title commitment through closing, and how REALTORS®, lenders, and title professionals work together to keep transactions on track.
The second half of the course will focus on FinCEN reporting requirements effective March 1st, which apply when a residential property is purchased by an entity or trust without a lender involved in an anti-money laundering program. Agents will gain clarity on when these rules apply, what information settlement agents must collect and report, and how these requirements may impact buyers, sellers, and closing timelines. This session will equip attendees with the knowledge needed to better prepare clients, avoid delays at closing, and remain compliant with evolving federal regulations.
