Broker Tools | Social Media FAQs

Do you know every time one of your agents advertises a listing on social media? Unlikely.

While it is important to keep tabs on your agents' listing advertisements, the best course of action is to educate them on the Do's & Dont's of real estate Social Media Advertising early on in their careers, to promote best practices before any potential mistakes are made that can fall back on the Broker, YOU.

CBOR has developed a useful Social Media FAQs guide (below) that addresses common questions relating to social media advertising in real estate. This guide is for informational purposes only. CBOR is not providing legal advice.

Did You Know?

When a REALTORĀ® posts information about a listing on Social Media platforms it kicks in NAR's "Clear Cooperation Policy" Posting information on social media about a property is considered advertising.

As such, NAR requires that all member licensees who publicly advertise their listings on social media enter those listings into their respective MLS database within 1 business day of the public advertising.

CBOR requires all listings be entered within 1 business day of a listing's effective date, regardless if a listing is publicly advertised, but it is important to understand how NAR's Clear Cooperation policy enhances a cooperative marketplace for the real estate industry as a whole.

We will address the Clear Cooperation Policy in more detail in another Broker Tools Volume.
